Since 1983, the Mid Canterbury Vintage Machinery Club has brought together enthusiasts who share a passion for vintage and classic machinery.
The Mid Canterbury Vintage Machinery Club is based in the town of Ashburton on the Canterbury Plains area of the South Island of NZ.
The Canterbury region is well known for being a highly productive farming area producing livestock, dairy, arable, and horticultural products, much of which are produced on the Canterbury Plains, the largest area of flat land in the country. This has meant that in the past the Canterbury area has often been at the forefront of farming and construction mechanisation in New Zealand, resulting in a considerable amount of machinery being available from days gone by.
Ashburton, the largest town in the region, is an agricultural service centre supporting the surrounding farming area known as Mid Canterbury. This region is bounded by the Rakaia and Rangitata rivers, the ocean to the east, and the mountains to the west.
Club members are of varying ages and come from all walks of life, with the majority living within the Mid Canterbury area, while others are from further afield.
We all share an appreciation and passion for the vintage and classic machinery that has shaped our agricultural and construction heritage. We organise various field events for vintage machinery enthusiasts, display machinery at A&P Shows and other community events, and meet monthly to share knowledge, stories, and friendship.
The Mid Canterbury Vintage Machinery Club caters for anyone with an interest in vintage machinery of all ages and types, whether you are a long time collector, restoration enthusiast, or just interested in machinery from days gone by.
